American College of Healthcare Executives

Allison Romer was placed as the chief of strategic alliances at the American College of Healthcare Executives in Chicago, Illinois. ACHE is an international professional society of more than 48,000 healthcare executives who lead hospitals, healthcare systems, and other healthcare organizations, and offers board certification in healthcare management through its prestigious FACHE® credential. ACHE has an established network of 80 chapters, with 100 full-time staff and an annual operating budget of over $27 million. In her capacity, Allison serves as a strategic and business development leader and partner to the CEO, to the Board of Governors, and to the organization as a whole, focusing on identifying opportunities to develop and grow the three interrelated business units of the association (publications, membership, and educational programs), create new initiatives to enhance ACHE’s market position, and support and update businesses and strategies.

Allison brings to the position strong operations experience, having managed P&L from $10 million to $100 million. She has experience at both the strategic and execution levels in marketing, business development, sales, product management, advertising, and public relations, and has had a successful career of identifying and implementing strategic growth options and effective go-to-market business plans to improve profitability.

Before joining ACHE, Allison served as the vice president for corporate development at the American Association of Diabetes Educators, also in Chicago. Within this association of more than 14,000 members, Allison focused on building and nurturing strategic partnerships, building the AADE brand, driving revenue growth, and increasing engagement. She created a robust pipeline of almost $3 million worth of medical education/corporate sponsorship projects that was four times larger than the association’s historical pipeline, and grew dues revenue by 55% through adding new members and reengaging lapsed members.

Previously, Allison served as the vice president of enterprise marketing for the American Medical Association; as the vice president of marketing and communications for the American Association of Diabetes Educators; as a global marketing director for Hollister Incorporated; as a director of national accounts for Cardinal Health’s care continuum products and services division; and as a director of marketing and government affairs for Baxter Healthcare Corporation’s renal division. She began her career in sales, marketing, account management, and strategic planning positions at Baxter Healthcare, Leo Burnett USA, and American Hospital Supply.

Allison earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Williams College in Massachusetts, and her MBA in marketing and policy from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management in Evanston, Illinois. She and her husband are the parents of two sons and reside in the Chicago suburbs. Outside of work, Allison enjoys playing tennis and skiing.
